International Day Center

Our goal at 29:11 Inc. is to help communities worldwide better meet the needs of their orphaned and homeless children.  We don't want to help once, we want to equip communities, churches and volunteers to better help those they are serving (or to help them serve those they currently aren't)

We are currently focused on a project in Kakamega, Kenya where we would like to start a Day Center where children can come to get food, love,  medical attention, encouragement...

In the past, we have worked together with Deliverance Church, providing VBS to children during their annual Woman's Conference.  This allowed some women to come who otherwise couldn't, as well as providing VBS truth & fun and a meal to other local children.

Each day our numbers would multiply because word would spread that Americans had gifts (VBS craft) and food.  While we loved serving this community it hurt our hearts knowing that we would soon leave and the children would no longer have a place to go to receive the love, truth and encouragement we had been providing all week.   

Someone near and dear to our hearts, Pastor Wambua has always directed us to tell those asking for help to seek out the church.  Even when he is out in public and people ask him for assistance he tells them to meet him at church and that there they will help. He wants the people in his community to receive assistance and he wants the church to serve them just as Christ would.   This is kind of how we came up with the plan for our day center.  

Okay, so look past the beautiful picture of Jennifer and her amazing son Archadius and see the building in the background.  This is the current Sunday School building for Deliverance Church.  It is currently used on Sunday mornings to teach children.

Our goal is to finish the building so it can be used to support orphans and street kids during the week.  It will also be more suitable for teaching classes on Sunday mornings.  We want to complete the building so it is suitable for large numbers of children, and able to operate in all types of weather.  We also want to employ a staff of locals (including church members) who can carry out daily operations.  We want the children in this community to have needs met by people who are also sharing the truth of the Gospel with them.  

We also pray that while children are having needs met at the Day Center, their parents and families will see Christ through the actions of those at the Day Center, recognize it's connection to the church and have their needs met at Deliverance Church.  

At 29:11 Inc. we see this as being a positive opportunity for all involved.  The church will have a Sunday School Building that is more complete and functional, the children in Kakamega will have a safe place to go for nutrition, medical needs and support and the people in the community will see Deliverance Church as a place to go for support, love and truth.  

We will keep you updated on progress, plans and needs.

A Child's Heart

Don't you just LOVE kids!
I mean seriously...
Sometimes they just PUT US IN OUR PLACE!

We learned to Stand Strong no matter what the world throws at you -
a GREAT lesson for kids and adults!!

This week was our Vacation Bible School week.  As you may (or may not) know, the ladies of 29:11 Inc. are Children's Ministry junkies so the weeks surrounding VBS are extremely busy for us.  With that being said, Praise the Lord things went well.





We take up coin offerings each day of VBS and all of the money goes to feeding children in orphanages we currently have connections with in Africa & Haiti.

It seems like each year we have children who are willing to sacrifice - I mean truly make a sacrifice - for kids who they have never met.  We have kids who give each year but there is always that one kid whose story sticks with you.

Ava wanted to make a difference to children in other countries.  In her words she wanted to make "just one kid in Africa or Haiti smile."

She emptied out her entire bank and put it all in her purse to give in our offering. Ava may not have given the most money this week, but she definitely sacrificed.

She even asked to "give a speech" to the kids and parents at VBS.

Ava said that she wished she had a big big room, filled with all the money in the world.  She said if she had all that money she would give it away to make just ONE kid in Africa or Haiti or other countries like that smile.

She really gets it.

Sometimes I wonder even as adults, even as people who have started a non-profit to help orphans and homeless children around the world, even as people who work and volunteer in ministries, even as followers of Christ - do we get it?

Are we willing to give all that we have for just one smile?

Lord, give us a heart that is truly willing to  give up everything we have to follow you.  Don't let us be like the rich man in Matthew 19, who couldn't part with his possessions.  Use all that we have to further Your kingdom.

Opportunities

Here at 29:11 Inc. we have some exciting opportunities we want to share with you - our loyal supporters.  

Again, let me start off with saying thanks!  We truly love everyone who takes the time to read our blog, support us financially and pray that God will be glorified by what we are doing at 29:11 Inc.   

Our first totally awesome bit of information is that we have the opportunity to share our passion with a local church.  We will be attending a service, sharing our passion, vision and plans with a local congregation and taking a love offering.  Anyone out there starting a non profit knows how difficult it can be to get your information out there and get support financially.

Our second awesome 
opportunity is to partner with another non profit, Eternal Outlook.  They are an organization focused on helping people discover their gifts and create opportunities for them to serve.  They also help promote ministries (like us) to get more stable financial support.  As we have said, ministry isn't free, and we think it is awesome that God has connected us with others whose vision is to help organizations like ours.  


We are extremely excited about these recent opportunities!  Almost as excited as this adorable little guy!
